Baking

I have this impulsive idea to buy an oven. I was just browsing blogs (cooking blogs) and wanted to try making some cookies I saw that would be perfect for the kids. But I do not have an oven. I am thinking I just need something small, but I know getting a big toaster would serve its purpose as well. I do not want to splurge on anything remotely expensive. For all we know, this might just be a passing thing, a hobby for me! (I know I should not apply for payday loans online for this).

I saw these options and would be showing this to the husband soon:

For the most impatient among us, this Dual Pizza Oven could have us eating two 12" pizzas in 90 seconds or less.

In order to achieve this feat, the oven heats up to 790 degrees and features roof-mounted 1,440-watt coil heating elements and ceramic pizza stones to ensure thorough, even cooking. The only problem is that the 90-second figure does not take frozen pizzas into account. Still, with that kind of power, it will probably cook a frozen pizza pretty damn fast—and with higher quality than a microwave. Plus, at $249, it doesn’t come cheap

Pyrex for the Kitchen

I love Pyrex cookware. I practically grew up with it as my Mom used it in the kitchen a lot. Now that I have a family of my own I am starting to collect good items for my kitchen and Pyrex is one of them. I recently bought some during last year’s Black Friday Sale. Along with my Corelle plates I would have nice setting for my table already. Now if only I know how to cook :)

Here are the ones on my wishlist. I don’t think I would be needing to get a payday loan for this, I would just wait for another Black Friday sale.

Un-Sporty

I have never been a sporty person. My family are just into books, TV and dining out – total couch potatoes really. So it is quite a blessing I married a man who is very active in sports. Edil is good at every field of sport he chose to learn. But it is basketball that remains to be his first love. Up to now, he wants me (and now his kids) to be present whenever he plays basketball in tournaments he joins in. For the next three months, our Saturdays will be booked in the afternoons for basketball games. The Parents’ Association in Matthew’s school has launched a parents’ basketball tournament that will run until early February next year in time for the Foundation Day. And we have made time for it, even making it special. It is an added bonus that Edil’s team has never lost a game until now. Now, we are trying to get Matthew involved in sports too, as he has inherited my love for the couch :). We have tried involving him in basketball but he prefers swimming and taek wan do. We might enroll him in a class if ever we find out. Baseball is another sport he was interested to try after seeing it played in a movie (High School Musical 2 it is I think). Baseball Equipment are hard to find here, I must go check it out first.

My Second Apple.

It seems I might be getting an iPhone soon. While I find it a very cool, multi-tasking efficient gadget, it was never on my list of priorities. I just cannot bear the thought of parting with that much money so that I can do everything “at the palm of my hand”. But luck (and very good friend) was on my side when I was offered one at such a steal of a price that I cannot just say no, even if I didn’t have any budget. So surprise, by the end of next week, I’m going to have an iPhone!

I really do not know which iphone accessories I should need but a friend who has the gadget lamented how the battery has a very short shelf life, so I guess I would need an extra charger or car charger in my bag at all times. I am actually very excited about the apps I can install on it, primarily the eBooks/Kindle app so I can finally catch up on reading (at a cheaper price). Another friend advised me to install the WW (Weight Watcher’s) and Calorie Counting app because I am on a quest to monitor my intake of food.

Another friend will be giving me an iphone case in my favorite shade (pink!) too. Don’t you just agree that I have the nicest friends? I need a sturdy case for my kids, I am sure they will be busy playing games with it in no time too.

I see an iphone dock as something that I can use too. Friends who have iPhones have it and it serves as their clock, alarm when needed and music speaker all in one. I might just buy things one at a time, but having an iPhone is really making me excited :)

A Complete Kitchen

Even if I am not great at cooking, one of my dreams is to have a complete kitchen. I really don’t want a state of the art kitchen, I just want a complete one that is cozy enough for our family to hang out in.

Look at the picture above. That would be perfectly doable right? Since I am still in love with chartreuse green, this is also in my dream list:

When we get our own house, I will make sure that the kitchen is somewhere I can find a lot of time to hang out in (so maybe I can be motivated to cook!). Even if I apply for a payday loan to absorb the additional costs it can concur.

I have not seen a house that I have visited that was as homey as the pictures above. I want a kitchen that is a place of activity as well – I plan to make my kitchen like that!

Passing Drug Tests

As far as I know, drug testing has always been used for screening purposes for employment and license for driving applications. Recently, there was a law implementing random drug testing in the workplace and making it legal. It has been very controversial, as human rights activists argue that it would be an invasion of privacy. Lawmakers argue though, with the help of medical advice from doctors, that random drug testing will be the only way to reveal if a person has been using illegal drugs for the past three months. Drugs has been proven to stay in the blood and hair longer than in the urine and body fluids.

Remember the controversial fight between boxing champions Floyd Mayweather and Manny Pacquiao? The match didn’t push though as Pacquiao would not agree to a drug test minutes before the fight but was amenable to a drug test even after immediately the fight. He said it might ruin his game, as he is extremely queasy about having his blood drawn. Mayweather has been hinting that Pacquiao is using drugs (steroids) and for that he was slapped a libel case by the former.

One can now pass a random drug testing or even a schedule one by taking the drug detox test – you can buy detox kits that get rid of toxins in urine, hair and saliva. You can find out the toxin levels in your body in those kits too.

Never Ending Inflation

Financial experts say that in about five to ten years, the cost of living would have doubled, given the never-ending rise on commodities these days without subsequent raises on people’s salaries. It would be a very big economic problem and experts are at a loss on how to control what would be a major headache in the years to come.

Consumers are sensing this problem so they are diversifying their savings and investing them on different markets. After the traumatizing economic downfall of the stock markets last year, most people have learned not to “put all their eggs in one basket”. Now is the right time to buy gold bullion, it has been a wise investment a long time ago but the market has been picking up this trend. Gold has been known as the only commodity that has never depreciated in value, that’s why!

The Best Thing to Eat on a Hot Sunday

It was surprisingly hot last Sunday, even at night, when it supposed to get a couple of degrees lower. It was so hot that I can even afford to eat something like this (and not wish for Amish fireplaces!):

chowking halo halo

I got the fiesta version, without the ice cream because I can do without the sweetness, thank you very much. This was my reward for a week-long diet!
