Take Out Food vs. Home Cooked Meals

1. You get to save more when you cook meals from home.
2. Your family eats healthier food.
3. They get to eat more too, as you can see. Take out food can only take you that far with $20. That’s only for one eating. $20 of groceries can feed you for days.

While it is perfectly fine to indulge in eating out once in a while, I believe nothing gets better than staying home and eating homecooked meals! (I should learn how to cook!)

Seaweed | Lato

We went to Leyte last week and it was my first time to taste this delectable dish called Lato. It’s fresh seaweed salad in a way, with onions and tomato and it tastes heavenly! I have been looking at term life insurance quotes online and remembered this delicacy that I immediately craved. It goes well with any dish! I ate this together with spicy prawns, baked scallops and mussels!

Wendy’s

This was my first meal of the day, taken at 3PM last Monday. I went to the mall hoping to get some gifts for the kids and look at available switch plates for our ancestral home’s renovation. It was a very disappointing trip, save for my Wendy’s meal – my usual order of baked potato bacon & cheese, bacon mushroom melt and biggie iced tea. All the things that were on the kids’ wishlist were out of stock. I had to go to the city to get their gifts. I spent 5 digits in two hours of shopping. The holidays can truly drain you – that’s for sure!

Cafe Breton

Even if the weather has noticeably gone cooler, it didn’t stop my and my friends from enjoying some cold sweet treats from Cafe Breton.

We usually go to Starbucks for some cake and coffee but the people this time of the year is out of this world crazy (maybe because of the Starbucks planner?) so we decided to go to Cafe Breton instead.

We were not disappointed!

French Baker

French Baker brings back so many nice childhood memories. Whenever there were reasons to celebrate, my parents would take us to French Baker and I’d always have lasagna. I saw the restaurant when I went out by myself a week ago and had to try if they taste the same. Unfortunately, it doesn’t. Their lasagna is not that cheesy and yummy as they used to be, or perhaps my memory of their food was just perfect. You can even say I was addicted to it. It’s a good thing that I didn’t need to go to a malibu rehab treatment center!

Frozen Margarita

We celebrated my father-in-law’s birthday last weekend and we talked and caught up with our relatives that night, talking about reward cards, health, our kids’ education and showbiz gossip over beer and cocktails.

Can you believe that this is my first alcoholic drink in more than a year? I ordered frozen margarita and didnt even manage to finish one glass of it without getting a buzz. I only drank half and stopped. I didnt want to get too drunk.

Antonio’s

I was pretty excited to discover Deal Grocer offered deals from Antonio’s because 1) I have heard raves about this place but was scared it was out of our budget and 2) Its location is close to our house. I snatched up a couple of coupons intending to treat my parents as well. It was a good thing my camera didn’t need rechargeable aaa batteries as I was able to take pictures of the heavenly food.

Antonio’s is not all hype – that much I can tell. I am even willing to pay full price for it the next time we eat there.

Zucchini’s

I have failed to blog about our recent eating escapades. I was caught in making birth announcements for clients and then life got busier with trips and sickies in the house. Thanks to group-buying sites, we finally get to try some known restaurants at a fraction of what it would normally cost us.

I got this deal from Deal Grocer, getting it based from feedback from friends. Since the husband and I love steaks, I figured it was worth a try. We weren’t disappointed!

We had salad first:

Scallops Salad in Brown Butter
vanilla chili lime vinaigrette

And then came the steak – oh my – best steak evar!
550 grams of Certified Angus Beef Angusaurus Steak with Twice Baked Potato.
