FrupCakes

I have been thinking of getting these adorable looking cupcakes for the husband on our anniversary next month. Unfortunately, the guy doesn’t like sweets and since I am on a diet, I won’t be able to finish all the cupcakes which would be an ultimate waste :). (The kids are not cake fanatics too). It can be quite pricey that I am afraid they would need a stronger POS machine like with the Symbol LS2208.

But really who cares? They sure are an eyecandy!

Easter Candy

image
Have you had your share of Easter candy yet? We skipped the traditional Easter egg hunt and activities for the kids and instead went out to hear mass and shop for things at home: dog food for our puppy, a  mattress for the kid’s new bed and some groceries. We had our share of Easter candy though – M&Ms in Easter colors, nothing gets better than that!

Going Martha Stewart on Flowers

I would love to receive candies or chocolates during special days. I am just being honest here, who could resist these goodies?

Lately, strawberries dipped in chocolate together with wine are a staple in our weekend night desserts.

But since I am trying to be healthy and lose weight, the husband has been giving flowers during special occasions, like my birthday and Valentine’s Day last month. Since he knows how much I idolize the craftiness of Martha Stewart (I went crazy with her wedding detail ideas during our own wedding – I wanted to copy each and every one!), he just picks Martha Stewart arrangements for me. Now, that is a sweet thing to do, remembering my preferences!

This is a Martha Stewart Happiness Bouquet, and it seems yellow is my favorite color of the moment. I am done with pinks and greens.

This one is a Pure Bliss Bouquet, which is a great accent in corners at home. I love the deep, rich shades.

This one is perfect for Easter, the Fresh Scent Bouquet!

The arrangements and vases are worth the purchase already! If I had such creativity, I would want to have flower arrangements at home all the time.

Chocolate Fountain

We never fail to have one whenever we Bebots have a party with balikbayan friends:

We actually prefer the fountain this year from the last because the chocolate was yummier (and their set up was better). They also had plenty of strawberries and bananas which were all I ate anyway. Fruits dipped in chocolate are the best!

I just know this would become a tradition in the future. I just hope the next time there will be a party, we will be complete. We still lack two friends in the US who need to come home. The two friends who came home hosted two parties for us and we felt humbled that all we gave were a basket of Filipino goodies and a personalized gift of t-shirts, slipper socks and bag organizers.

Banoffee Pie

Banapple’s version (slice P65/whole P480) has two layers of dulce de leche ensconcing ample and thickly sliced cuts of banana atop a buttery graham cracker crust made pleasantly gritty from the white sugar. There’s the requisite swath of whipped cream and then a deviation from tradition with shards of dark chocolate as garnish.

~ From Dessert Comes First

I love Banoffee pies, the only one that passed my taste was Starbucks’ version. Now Banapple surpassed Starbucks! I love how they present their cakes too, with matching pop displays – it makes me want to try ALL their cakes!

The inFamous Mango Bravo

We got to have the lucky opportunity to taste Conti’s Mango Bravo last weekend. Friends bought two large cakes of it at our party. It really is a good tasting cake, but it needs to be frozen because it tends to melt easily. It melted while we busy talking about anything under the sun from auto insurance quote comparison to designer bags.

Conti’s Cakes

There is a reason why this cake takes a bright page in their menu:

Conti's Mango Bravo
Admittedly their best selling cake, Mango Bravo did not disappoint. But since we wanted to taste other cakes in the menu to learn more about them, we ordered different slices. We should have ordered one whole Mango Bravo cake though!
