Detox Done!

I am so happy to be able to finish a three-day detox last week! I deserve an eternity band from the husband for this :)

I have been reading up on the benefits of juicing but was a little intimidated and scared if I can do it. With the encouragement of a friend, I delved right into it. I am glad to be able to finish it without giving in to temptation! I gave up rice too, and I have been eating meals without rice (and even bread) for close to 6 days now. It’s hard – especially since rice is a major component of every meal where I live.

Here are the components of my mean green juice:

I have yet to master the correct proportions though. I really gave up lemons + celery because for the life of me I cannot stand it. Everything else I can stand.

I will keep you guys in check what happens next for me :D

Mean Green Juice

I am going to try juicing today, so please wish me a dollar (or even some silver bullion) and lots of positive jujus today. I need it.

I have a friend who has tried it, thanks to the movie I shared with her, and she is going strong for three weeks already. She inspired me to do this!

Here is the recipes I am going to try:
Mean Green Juice (original)
This is the official recipe used by Joe Cross and Phil Staples according to the Reboot Program.

Tips on Being a Travel Nurse

We have heard a lot of reports saying that the shortage of nurses won’t be met anytime soon. There are so many areas in many parts of the world that have a 1:200 nurse-patient ratio and as a result, travel nursing jobs became a trend being offered by travel nursing companies.

You can say travel rn jobs are lucrative job positions. But the rewards and benefits come with great expectations and strict requirements. For instance, travel nurses need to be licensed nurses with at least one year experience in a specialized area of their choice.

The life of a travel nurse requires maintaining a constant travel schedule that includes:

Maintaining a Check List: A week before you depart, have a list of all the necessities you need and check them off as you pack. This includes documents, clothing, books, etc.

Research Work Location: Prepare for cultural differences, personal safety issues, and proximity to stores, restaurants, and supermarkets. This will minimize unexpected stressful events.

Most nurses enter the field of travel nursing so they can travel, experience different work environments, make a good living, and maintain a flexible work schedule. Travel nursing is also an excellent way for recent graduates to find out where they would like long-term employment.

The Green Monster

In my quest to be healthier, I have been reading up on juicing and its effects on the body. A friend recommended I try it, and I actually like it! I have been drinking carrot apple juice three times a day. And a 200ml yummy drink is composed of 3 apples and 3 carrots already! Can you imagine packing that much nutrients in a drink? (Can you imagine eating 3 carrots in one sitting?)

I want to try this green juice though. It says it is made up of spinach and bananas with milk (and nuts) and it seems like a complete power meal to me already – protein (spinach + nuts + milk), fruit (bananas) and veggies! If I can do this once a day, replacing one meal for the next three weeks, I am sure I can lose weight and maybe even shop at stores I’ve been dying to shop at (maybe I should keep the eddie bauer coupons 2012 I got!).

ngredients:
1 frozen sliced banana
1 Tablespoon peanut butter
1/2 cup 0% Vanilla Chobani Greek yogurt
1 cup Unsweetened Vanilla Almond Breeze (or other kind of milk)
4 cups baby spinach (or more, or less)

Directions:
Combine all ingredients in a blender and blend until smooth.

Nutritional stats:
350 calories, 10g fiber, 21g protein

How Much Sugar Common Junk Foods Contain

This is a great reference! If you are looking into seeing just how much sugar your “treats” contain, just click on the site above. You might just be better off locking whatever you save from buying Starbucks frappucinos in sentry safe (Just like me!). I would still indulge once in a while, but probably not more than twice a month from now on.

Just look at those sugar cubes! IN ONE DRINK!!

Fat Sick and Nearly Dead

I recommend this documentary movie to anyone who is exploring another way to finally be healthy. It explains how juicing greens and veggies reboots and detoxifies your body and aids in weight loss too! I might just ask for budget to sustain my greens for at least 10 days. Seriously though, I really want to detox my body!

Power Breakfast

Here’s a good power breakfast option:
Almonds, cooked oatmeal, bananas and yogurt meet up in your blender for a power breakfast.

I am making a more conscious effort to track down my eating and limit it to at least 1400 calories a day. It’s really a struggle, I tell you, like trying to get discount pool parts in summer peak months. But it really all boils down to discipline and attitude. If you slip a day, get back to the next, and do it again and again!

Five pounds in a year is 60 lbs! I can do this!
