Eyeglasses vs. Contact Lenses

While I have been gifted with 20/20 vision even with continued exposure to the glare of the computer screen for more than 18hours a day on most weeks, my sister hasn’t been that lucky. We siblings were diagnosed with astigmatism when we were young – around 7 or 8, and all of us eventually corrected our vision with the help of eyeglasses, except for our youngest. She wears glasses to this day and often needs to have her eye prescription upgraded every year. As of the moment, her eyeglasses are thick and she is a prime candidate for Lasik Surgery actually. She has 2 eyeglasses (one for back up) and a pair of Acuvue oasys contacts.

She uses contact lenses for parties and presentations at work where she would need to be at her best. She loves Acuvue oasys contact lenses as it doesn’t irritate as it doesn’t irritate her eyes even if she sleeps with them on (She has a habit of doing that). Contact lenses are small round pieces of plastic worn on the cornea of the eyes. It is so light and thin that people do not feel a thing while wearing it. Unlike eye glasses, which can get uncomfortable and is prone to breaking and misplacing, contact lenses are pretty comfortable and there is little chance of any kind of irritation if instructions are followed properly. They can to a certain point protect the eyes from trauma unlike eyeglasses. A friend recently got into a car accident and pieces of glasses were everywhere and went into her eye. It was a good thing she was wearing contacts so there were just minimal abrasions to her lenses.

Unique Clothes with a Statement

I have always believed that raising girls are more expensive than boy just because there are so many clothing options for girls that it is always so hard to resist buying them. I have two kids – a boy and a girl and my daughter’s closet is twice as big as her older brother’s. It makes it more difficult to resist temptation with the ease that online shopping brings (that and the fact I get my salary via Paypal too).

I particularly am into fashion statement clothes these days for my little sassy princess. She just turned four and is now asserting her independence and is showing signs of her personality. Let’s just say we no longer have a baby in the house but little big girl in the making. I have my eyes particularly on these clothing lines: Sara Sara, Hannah Banana and Baby Sara. You should them to be able to like them.

At Sara Sara, their concept is to create unique special occasion dresses and sportswear for girls with careful attention to details. These collections feature sportswear ensembles and dresses that play off the funky attitude and style in keeping with our image: Fashion-forward yet sensible and most of all, UNIQUE!

Their sister brand Hannah Banana, consists of easy-wear dresses and sportswear separates for the younger girls and will be great addition to those who are looking for a new stylish brand but price conscious.

Look at these pairs – my daughter will surely look rockin’ in them!

Cleaning Your Car

People should always treat their cars like their kids – they need to be clean all the time, inside and out. That’s why cars need to maintained in the car repair shop for oil change, brake checking, car wash and more every now and then. They also need to be insured, for your safety and peace and mind. You can say, cars can be as expensive as taking care of one of your children.

Even spills and stains on car floor mats need to be removed. A plastic spatula makes a great scraper for hard to remove stains. You should also use the gentlest solution for the stain removal. Let this solution of soap and water sit for about fifteen minutes and then wipe it away with a damp sponge. Use a solvent cleaner for greasy stains such as lipstick, crayons, shoe polish, etc.

Why Should You Invest on Life Insurance

My friends have been urging us to get life insurance already. I am turning 30 next year and I need to make sure the kids’ future is covered for, just in case anything happens to me. I was being offered term insurance but I am hesitant about it. With term, your policy will expire after a specific amount of time has passed – whether you have died or not. If you do pass away during the time of your coverage, your beneficiary will receive the predetermined death benefit that the policy is set up to pay out.

Life insurance refers to a policy that a person buys with the intention of being compensated in case of misfortunes, especially death. The person buying the policy is known as the insured and the issuer of the policy is called the insurer. The insured pays some agreed upon amount of money at the end of each stipulated period of time. The amount payable to the insurer is called a premium.

The husband told me I should be the one insured as he pays a higher premium because he needs to avail of the insurance for smokers policy. See? Smoking not only kills, it gets more expensive over time!

Sound of Music

My kids are as hooked with Glee, a weekly musical show, as I am. We download it as soon as it is available on the net and we watch the performances at least once a day. My son sings to the songs while my daughter dances to them. It makes me wonder if my kids are artistically inclined like my siblings. They sure haven’t gotten it from me!

If summer wasn’t as busy and the heat not as terrible, my kids would be at every summer lesson being offered at their school. There are piano lessons, guitar lessons as well as ballet lessons being offered. Once I learn how to drive, we can afford to take the kids to their lessons. So I need to learn how to drive soon!

Disney Cook Book!

I have to confess I dont know anything about the kitchen. If there would be textbooks for kitchen cooking Id be over them in a heartbeat!

This seems to be a great idea to help kids eat more:
