Open Source Software

I have been doing a lot of research about open source software because it is one of the things I need to do an article for my boss in two weeks. I enjoyed reading and learning about it, a first in my job. Open source software are programs developed by developers which source codes can be viewed, edited, altered and enhanced by members of the community who use it (Of course, restrictions apply). Users can distribute the program, modified or not, without any copyright infringements (again, certain rules apply).

You might be surprised how we use open source software programs everyday – Firefox, Media Player, FileZilla and XVid converters are great examples.

Here are a few more:
1. MPlayer
- It is a a movie player which runs on many systems, you can watch VideoCD, SVCD, DVD, 3ivx, DivX 3/4/5, WMV and even H.264 movies

2. Notepad ++
- It has more enhancements over the WordPad, a basic tool for programmers and encoders. Some of these are drag-and-drop, multiple clipboard availability, split screen editing, spell checker, find and replace multiple documents, and file comparison.

3. OpenOffice
- It runs and operates like Microsoft Office, having word processing, spreadsheets, presentations and graphics.

4. Pidgin Chat Client
- You can connect to AIM, MSN, Yahoo, and more chat networks all at once on one interface (the chat client).

5. PuTTY
- You can use this for SSH, Telnet, rlogin, and raw TCP computing protocols and as a serial console client.

Biiiiiig Pizza

We went to Sta. Rosa two weekends ago and we came across this 30-inch pizza at the Pizza.Pasta.Steak place. Too bad we were bent on eating at Kanin Club that we couldn’t spare room in our tummies for pizza even if we had us coins to spare :)

Next time we know which food restaurant to try out next. My kids, being pizza lovers, are excited already!

Stop!

Bulalo, Garlic Mushrooms in Butter, Tapa, Crispy Dinuguan and Seafood Kare Kare at the Kanin Club.

These are all the yummy food we have consumed over the weekend bonding with family and relatives. I need a sport to be able to burn all the food I have been eating. My husband suggested we go swimming too, since even if he bought an suv bike rack for his bike and invited me to go biking, I would not be able to go. I don’t know how to ride a bike! :)

Jack’s Loft

From what I remember, Jack’s Loft has amazing iced tea in a fishbowl so we decided to try it when we were in Eastwood over the weekend. I haven’t been to this place since 2003, I think. The food was nothing to rave about and even the iced tea did not make me happy – I still ate anyway :P. This is why I am reading accutane reviews as I have eaten too much sweets over the weekend my face is breaking out.

Cheesy sticks – bleh:

Pasta with adobo flakes – too oily:

Infamous Iced Tea:

Potato Mushroom Soup (this was the only yummy food I tasted):

I Declair: eclair with ice cream loaded with lots of whipped cream

Birthday!

Did I share about how my husband celebrated his birthday last January by drinking with his two brother who were in Singapore? This was all made possible by conference calling and the internet. Last weekend, another brother of his celebrated his birthday and while we were not able to chat with my brothers-in-law in Singapore, they did drink and capped it off with a trip to Starbucks. Fun times.

What do you do with these?

Make a mean blow job drink:

Fruit Stands

One of the many things I love about where I live is the fact that I can buy wooden swing sets at such a cheap price and there is an abundance of fresh fruits everyday. I only have to go out and buy from our neighbor who gets it from her farm lot. This way I am always guaranteed it is fresh and clean!

Fitness Update v.2

March 6-12, 2011

It was a bad week for me – food-wise.

My fitness coach aka The Slavedriver made me jog on track last Monday and it was the start of a bad week. My knees and leg bones hurt so much I pretty much wasn’t able to exercise the rest of the week. It took my dad, who is a doctor, for him to believe that at my current weight, I CANNOT run nor jog. My bones simply cannot support all my weight. Take that, I knew I was not just giving any reason!

Except for Ash Wednesday, which I fasted for, I pretty much ate anything the whole week.

The only upside to last week was that I had started to like the habit of eating cereals during breakfast. It has done me great to keep the cravings at bay and to regularize my bowel movement.

For this week I am challenging myself to start drinking water exclusively, no juices nor tea, and finally change our sofa’s upholstery fabric. :)

Hiring the Services of a Personal Injury Lawyer

It is always a hassle and inconvenience to get involved in accidents, whether it is one’s fault or not.

Sometimes the situation worsens when the responsible party doesn’t step up and honor their legal and financial obligation to pay for your medical expenses and lost wages. It is an unfortunate fact that many people simply do not want to take on the burden that they have created for you, whether it is a dog attack or a car accident. This is when you would need to hire a Austin personal injury lawyer. Talk to one today.
