Jack’s Loft

From what I remember, Jack’s Loft has amazing iced tea in a fishbowl so we decided to try it when we were in Eastwood over the weekend. I haven’t been to this place since 2003, I think. The food was nothing to rave about and even the iced tea did not make me happy – I still ate anyway :P. This is why I am reading accutane reviews as I have eaten too much sweets over the weekend my face is breaking out.

Cheesy sticks – bleh:

Pasta with adobo flakes – too oily:

Infamous Iced Tea:

Potato Mushroom Soup (this was the only yummy food I tasted):

I Declair: eclair with ice cream loaded with lots of whipped cream

Birthday!

Did I share about how my husband celebrated his birthday last January by drinking with his two brother who were in Singapore? This was all made possible by conference calling and the internet. Last weekend, another brother of his celebrated his birthday and while we were not able to chat with my brothers-in-law in Singapore, they did drink and capped it off with a trip to Starbucks. Fun times.

What do you do with these?

Fine Dining

I am quite pre-occupied in being healthy these days that I haven’t really eaten out in a while. I would have wanted to be true to my promise to try out new restaurants this year but I haven’t tried new locations in the first two months of the year.

I think I can handle going out (EATING out is more like it) once a month. It’s not good to be on a strict diet all the time, studies have proven that those who give themselves a break actually last longer in their weight loss journey.

So, in that sense, I have shortlisted five restaurants I would like to try this year with my husband, all of them in the same location near where were live. I can just imagine us, enjoying our meal, my husband enjoying a Padron cigar and me relaxing over a glass of wine. It makes me excited!

Sunday Snacks

We were talking about unique ring holders as great give-aways for a wedding of a relative today over pizza and cake! Coupled with soda and grilled chicken with corn on the cob on the side, I didn’t have any space left to eat dinner.

Here is a new favorite pizza from Shakey’s – Pizza Bianca:

And Goldilock’s Crema de Fruta:

I need to exercise starting Monday!

Mattito’s

If ever you would love to eat at the best Mexican food Dallas restaurant, you should go to Mattito’s. They are known to have the best Mexican food in the whole of Texas!

Just look at the glowing review of Barret Brown:

“Hungry patrons may choose from gorditas and fajitas of various makes, although the particularly famished might be better off with such resident specialties as the fillet Mignon with Chipotle sauce. Even the chips and their accompanying dips are quite notable, to hear the regulars tell it.”

– Barrett Brown CityGuide

My loves Mexican food. From tortillas to burritos and fajitas, my kids love them all. It’s a good thing that there is such a banquet restaurant Dallas like Mattito’s which can indulge Mexican food lovers.

Just look at their appetizing dishes:

I personally would like to try these:

PLATILLO DE MARISCO

Pan fried Caribbean
Snapper in mild Tomatillo sauce, Two Baja Shrimpand Two Jumbo Seared Shrimp served with cornpepper salad

TOSTADAS

Two crispy corn Tortillas covered with refried beans, shredded Chicken, fresh tomatoes, cabbage and spicy peppers topped off with Monterrey Jack cheese and served with guacamole

BOTANAS PLATTER (for 4-6)

Beef Fajita Nachos, Chicken Fajita Quesadillas, Tamales, Beef and Chicken Flautas, Chile Con Queso and Guacamole With Baja Shrimp

And the restaurant can be wedding reception Dallas location too! Just ask any of their staff. They provide catering services too. In addition to all their delicious food, they offer a wide range of catering packages or can custom tailor a special menu for your specific needs. In addition to the food, all of caterings include real china, cloth napkins, stainless flatware, chaffing dishes, buffet tables and decorations.

Most people will perk up their ears when they hear mention of Mexican Food. In many parts of the United States, you will find these dishes are just as popular as hamburgers or even pizza. Of course, while you can find it everywhere, it will soon become obvious that no two places will serve it exactly alike. That is because this style of food has both regional flavors as well as Americanized versions of some of the different dishes. So if you are looking to make a delicious dinner for your family, take a moment to learn about some of the options you have and fine tune it to the taste of your family. If you want authentic Mexican food, go to Mattito’s!

Cafe Mary Grace: Mango Bene

Mango Bene from Cafe Mary Grace.

One word: OHMY! This is piece of heaven in a cake slice! I wanted to buy one whole cake to take home but it needs to be frozen and refrigerated immediately so I was thinking it might melt on the way home. Id love to have my family taste it sometime. In the meantime, I need to buy silver coins for our New Year’s Eve celebration tomorrow! More sweets await me!

Cafe Mary Grace: Spanish Sardines and Olives Pasta

Spanish Sardines and Olives Pasta
Spanish sardines and a great zing to an aglio e olio (garlic and olive oil). Tomatoes and mushrooms add color and flavor

Believe it or not, it was my first time to try Cafe Mary Grace last month. My college friends and I met there over lunch and finally were able to catch up on each other’s lives – talking about family, money like cash advances, savings and credit card bills!, children, marriages, and how we have changed since motherhood came.
