It’s flu season once again and almost every kid I know has been sick, or worse, hospitalized with a deadly flu virus. It really cannot be helped because the weather has been extreme lately and with school starting, children are more exposed to all kinds of virus and bacteria. The key here is to strengthen their immune system so they can avoid getting sick. There are so many natural supplements at SuperVits.com. From BioAstin that promoted healthy joints to enzymedica that helps with the digestive system, you are guaranteed to find the vitamin you need at SuperVits.com. It is often considered a vitamin superstore. Whether it is the flu, a cold or simply allergies that bring you down, the end result is that the body hasn’t properly fought off the offending attacks. To help strengthen your body’s resistance to allergens or germs, start by addressing your immune system. You can strengthen it by cutting back on processed sugar, take supplements like Vitamins A, C, E and B complex. Finding a company that offers such vitamins in addition to supplements aimed specifically for immune support, like jarrow formulas, help zero in on what you are trying to accomplish. Vitamins A, C, E and B are certainly necessary for immune support but so are antioxidants, and IP6, which enhances the body’s natural killer cells.

Mold Test Kits
While mold is common and can be found in moist environments, it is dangerous when it grows in one’s home. Mold contamination and toxicity has been on the news a lot recently, so I know that consistent, long-term exposure to mold buildup or airborne spores can lead to a whole host of medical problems. My family experience allergic reactions such as skin rashes, throat irritation, or itchy and watery eyes. Worst case scenario: Toxic molds can cause serious respiratory complications, and in the most extreme cases, may even lead to death.
That is why is always advisable to test for mold on a periodical basis. The mold test kits available on Immunolytics.com retail for only $68. Each mold test kit contains testing materials which includes special plates for sampling the environment, an instruction sheet, and a processing form. Once you send it back to them they will be doing analysis on the samples and will send you a full color report via e-mail with online access to it on their site for retrieval. Not only that, they will be calling you to explain the results! They have a 7 day turnaround time too. ImmunoLytics is the leading mycology lab used by doctors, pharmacists and environmental specialists to analyze mold samples and help evaluate home, school and work environments.

Safe Drinking Water
Did you know that two-thirds of our body is made up of water? That is roughly 70%! So obviously it is important to keep our bodies hydrated. That is why it is extremely imperative that our source of drinking water is safe. Unfortunately, for the most part we do not know what is in the water that comes out of our facets. Do you ever wonder how healthy it is for you? At the website friendsofwater.com there are links to articles that question the safety of tap water. There is a link to one article that states that the law regulating what is seen to be safe in U.S. tap is 35 years old, and out of date, which causes questions to be raised regarding its safety and suggesting that even though it may be deemed legally safe to drink (according to a 35 year old ruling) it may not be healthy. Especially when you consider children and babies who will be exposed to whatever is in the water for a very long time. Many of us have resorted to buying our drinking water both because it tastes better and also it is believed to be safer. This increases our costs and can also be inconvenient in terms of transporting the water and cases of bottles. One more practical option is the use of water filter pitchers to filter your tap water so that it is safe and free of contaminants. The friendsofwater.com website features such a filter that has been proven to remove most contaminants as well as a high proportion of fluoride. You can get one from www.friendsofwater.com! This water filter pitcher works effectively as it filters the water in the pitcher, depositing the filtered water into a canister. This canister is convenient, easy to use, and fits easily in your refrigerator, so cold, tasty, pure water is always at your fingertips. The filters are not only efficient, they also conform one hundred percent to green living standards by not making use of electricity in the filtration process. The friendsofwater.com water pitcher effectively reduces fluoride and removes from 90% to 99.99% of most contaminants found in municipal water. You can filter up to 150 gallons of water before you need to change filters! That is so economical because an average family consumes 20 gallons a month.

Hydrate Your Skin!
Before you invest on those expensive wrinkle creams that work, make sure you are doing everything you can to hydrate your body.
I learned this from a great article:
Maintaining your skin’s moisture balance and keeping it hydrated is fundamental to keeping your skin healthy. Weather, environment, changes from indoor to outdoor temperatures, time in the sun and even diet can all affect the moisture level of our skin. Regular moisturizing will help your skin maintain its vibrant elasticity and prevent premature wrinkles and fine lines.
Perhaps one of the biggest misconceptions about moisturizers is that it hydrates the skin. The truth is moisturizers form a film over the skin and lock in the skin’s natural moisture. This in turn not only increases the skin’s water content, but also protects the skin and encourages an orderly desquamation (shedding) process that makes the skin appear smoother.
So drink up!
Healthy Way
Today is the first day of July and my renewed focus towards losing weight begins again. I actually did some physical activity earlier while the daughter was still sleeping. Thankfully, our ipods do their job by providing music without interrupting anyone. My challenge to myself this month is to complete a 30-day journey, hopefully so it becomes a habit.
July, please be good to me!
How To Prevent Cancer
I lost three of my grandparents to cancer in the last five years. I also have a lot of friends whose aunts and relatives are getting the big C, it’s quite scary. Here are some tips to prevent cancer:
1. Walking
Walking has many health benefits, such as cancer and other disease prevention. Instead of using the treadmill, walk outdoors. If you can find a safe sidewalk, or park, you can walk! Bring headphones and listen to music, or even an audiobook.
Make it a family event! Exercise is important for children, too! Plus, if kids are involved, they won’t ever let you forget when it time to take a walk!
2. Yoga
If you have never done Yoga before, why not start a beginners’ class? Yoga is a great physical activity and is a great stress reliever. Don’t worry if you are not flexible; you will work your way up each class. Bringing a friend to class with you makes it easier and less intimidating. Once you learn the basic, you can do the exercises at home in your free time.
3. Dancing
Dancing can be the most fun way to meet fitness goals. You can dance in the privacy of your living room, or go to a club. If you have two left feet, try a dance class! Learn salsa, ballroom dancing or even the meringue! There are so many types of dance to learn, you can’t go wrong.
4. Rollerblading
Rollerblading just isn’t for the kids! Make sure you have the proper protective gear like a helmet, knee and elbow pads, and have a go at rollerblading! It is very cardiovascular and works out all muscle of the body. Don’t worry if you don’t get it at first, practice makes perfect!
5. Tai Chi
Tai Chi is a Chinese martial art that promotes health through slow moving exercises and breathing techniques. It is also meditative. Classes can be taught in a group setting or in private classes. Many seniors practice tai chi for it’s health benefits.
6. Join A Team Sport
Joining a team sport like softball, volleyball, and soccer can be tons of fun! Organized sports are sometimes offered through the workplace and recreation centers. If your workplace doesn’t have one, why not organize a sport? You’ll meet new people and engage in healthy competition.
7. Swimming
Swimming is an excellent form of exercise! You workout out all muscles of the body, and it can be very cardiovascular. Many gyms or YMCA’s offer open swim sessions. If you don’t know how to swim, lessons are available for adults. You can also try water aerobics.
8. Hiking
If you love the outdoors, hiking is for you! The scenery alone makes hiking worthwhile. Set a goal for yourself like distance or the amount of time you hike during each session. Not only are you challenging yourself, you are getting one of the best ways to get in shape!
9. Cycling
You can cycle at home while watching TV on a stationary bike or hit the outdoors with a traditional bicycle. Stationary bikes are preferred by most adults because it is convenient. You can also control the resistance and simulate biking uphill or downhill. Whether you bike in the home or outdoors, you are easily meeting the 30 minutes/5 days a week goal.
10. Dodgeball
Do you remember playing dodgeball in high school gym class? Dodgeball is back! Gyms and rec centers across the country are catching onto the new trend by offering classes and organized teams. It is also the ultimate stress reliever! Think back to when playing in school, how good it felt to get someone “out”. Yes, its definitely a stress reliever!
