If only they have a Frequent Visitors Card program..

My kids, particularly my son, absolutely loves Teriyaki Boy. Whenever we would eat out, he would request to eat there. His favorite is the Wafu steak, tempura, Teriyaki Beef – everything! I try to indulge him every now and then, especially since his sister can now finish an entire Chicken Ebi kid’s meal on her own. Sure, I can buy buy gold coins with all the money we are spending eating out – but the kids’ satisfaction is priceless. Plus, it is absolutely worth it to hear “Ma, it’s soooo good!” and see clean plates after a meal-out!

I’d gladly bring them here again and again!

Asupara Bacon Maki

This is my favorite appetizer from Teriyaki Boy. We usually order two sets for our family of four :) It’s both healthy because of the green asparagus and yummy but bad for the tummy because of the bacon. We would not be needing a colon cleanser I think because we somehow balance it out. :)

I actually want to try this at home. I chanced upon this blog post and wonder if it will taste good with spam in it.

Here are the ingredients and steps:
belly bacon
baby asparagus
Spam
enoki mushooms
cooking oil for frying (very minimal if you use a non-stick pan)

Blanch the asparagus in boiling water for about 5 seconds. Drain. I suggest you put them in iced water after draining to refresh them.

Cut the root ends of the enoki mushrooms and blanch them in boiling water as well.

Cut the spam into strips about 1/2″x1/2″x3″.

Take a strip of Spam, a couple of asparagus and some enoki mushrooms and wrap them with a piece of bacon. Secure with a toothpick.

Heat a little cooking oil in a frying pan and fry the rolls, in batches if necessary, until the bacon is crisp and nicely browned. Serve at once.

I was going through my inbox a couple of days ago and I was amazed how much offers I can get from subscriptions. Of course, the spam I get is usually as many too, like receiving e-mails about male enhancement products when I’m a girl (!) and inheritance notifications from a long-distance relative from a land I’ve never even heard of.

But restaurant deals are amazing, especially if they come in reward points given by your credit card supplier!

The Search for Physical Therapy Jobs

A neighbor’s son just recently graduated from a big university. He was able to finish his degree in physical therapy and is now looking at possible physical therapy jobs that he could apply to. Although he is also searching for jobs locally, what he actually wants is a job abroad where pay is bigger.

The other day, he was telling me about seeing a lot of occupational therapy jobs in one website that he visited and that he applied for one of the physical therapist assistant jobs. However, he knows that it will be difficult for him to land one especially since he does not have any work experience yet except for his internship at a local hospital. So he is narrowing his job search to local hospital and rehabilitation centers. He hopes to get a few years experience and then finally try his luck with the same jobs abroad.

According to him, many of his classmates also have the same plan. Despite their eagerness and persistence to find jobs abroad, many hospitals and rehabilitation centers are not willing to take an inexperienced newly grad. Hence, they are all settling for local jobs and they jokingly made bets on who will be the first one to finally get an overseas job. I hope that person is our neighbor’s son.

Estrel’s Caramel Cake

It was the first time I was able to taste Estrel’s. We had it for my father’s birthday, and now that I have tasted it, I think I would need the best fat burner! We ordered the plain vanilla caramel cake and the butter/caramel fillings were so yummy, fluffy and light! Not too sweet at all.
