Going Over Budget with Food

We have been eating out a lot lately and I have been spending more on our grocery the past few weeks. I think one of the reasons is we have two kids in school so I need to take into consideration having a big breakfast (rice usually) at mornings and snacks plus fruits. I think all our extra money is going to food, which is fine because we enjoy it. But we need to be more stringent with money and be more aggressive with money saving. A friend advised us that we buy gold coins as investment as it has great value and never depreciates. We will see.

June is National Iced Tea Month

June is National Iced Tea Month and summer is here, so what a better way to start off right than with some fun facts about iced tea, courtesy of Honest Tea:

As of June 1st iced tea is 106 years-old

Studies show that drinking tea is a good way to build strong bones – that is what an hgh spray also claims!

Despite its many variations and flavors, all tea comes from the same plant

Honest Tea Half & Half offers a healthy way to satisfy summer thirst with USDA certified organic and Fair Trade certified tea with slightly sweetened lemonade and is only 48 calories per 8-oz serving.

About 85 percent of the tea served in the United States is iced tea.

According to the Tea Association of the USA, Inc., tea is nearly 5,000 years old. It was discovered in 2737.

Comfort Foods – Caramel Macchiato and Classic Chocolate Cake

imageI finally had some me time yesterday and I decided to spend it at Starbucks reading a book I have been trying to finish since April! I ordered chocolate cake – I was hoping to find some banoffee pie but I was out of luck. To balance out the calories, I ordered Caramel Macchiato instead of a frappucino. I spent around an hour and a half just reading and lounging around the nice contemporary furniture Starbucks had to offer. It was a very nice time out for me. I should do this every week. I have discovered I can commute to Starbucks (it’s not that hard!) and now that I know, I can always go there whenever I have the craving instead of waiting for the weekend when the husband can drive me there.

Caramel Macchiato FRAPPUCCINO!

Did you know you can now get your favorite hot beverage blended with the NEW however-you-want-it Frappuccino? We love the Frappuccino version of a Caramel Macchiato. Ask your barista for a Creme Frappuccino with vanilla syrup and an espresso shot and caramel drizze on top. It’s the perfect way to enjoy espresso and milk in the summer!

Simple Steps for Dog Grooming

While you may not always be paying attention, there is a noticeable difference between dogs that have good coats and dogs that don’t. There is a difference in the shine and appearance. There is a difference in the touch and believe it or not, it makes a big difference to your dog. So how do you get your dog to have that nice healthy coat? The answer is easier than you think. There are just a few simple things you can do to improve your dog’s coat.

Feed Them Well
It doesn’t sound like it matters but it does. There are so many vitamins and nutrients in the food that you give your dog that it will definitely contribute to the quality of their coat. If you are unsure of the type of dog food that is best for your dog, ask their vet what food is best. But the good news is that even a good guess at the grocery store should suffice. Almost every food available today has the right amount of vitamins and nutrients.

Keep Those Fleas Out
Nothing can be as detrimental to your dogs overall health, as well as the health of their coat, as fleas. Make sure you are doing everything you can to keep your dog flea free. Products like Frontline Plus are good for not only killing off the existing fleas but also keeping new eggs from hatching.

Give Them the Royal Treatment
It can be an expense but it would be best from time to time to take your dog for a shampoo and haircut. Professional groomers do a great job. They use shampoos that make your dog’s coat shine as well as give them a quality haircut. Follow these simple steps and your dog will have a great looking coat in no time. They deserve it.

Macys Promotional Codes

In addition to hosting the famous Thanksgiving Day parade, Macys is a well-known department store with locations throughout the United States and a website on the internet. Stores like Macys use promotional codes to recruit potential customers by offering incentives such as: (1) a discount on merchandise, (2) free shipping, or (3) offering customers free items with their purchase. These incentives often give the buyer a reason to purchase from Macys, and stores like Macys make these codes easily available through an email or customer referral. Thus, Macys promotional codes help generate revenue because they capture potential price-sensitive customers that may be inclined to make purchases elsewhere because they have a lower willingness-to-pay.

Because online shopping is a huge part of American consumerism, these promotional codes provide customers a sense of fulfillment. Price savvy customers are often on the look-out for special deals and savings, usually from the comfort of their home computer. Offering online incentives through promotional codes caters to the market of internet shoppers because these customers can realize savings without leaving the house. Also, offering a promotional code for, say, free shipping encourages a prospective buyer to purchase the item immediately or buy more items to capture additional savings. This concept is similar to coupon-clipping; however, using promotional codes is easier and a more environmentally friendly way to shop as it produces less paperwork. Finally, stores may also use promotional codes to promote loyalty – giving discounts and perks to valued customers serves as a reward and encourages them to return.

To use a promotional code, a customer enters the code upon checkout. Using free shipping as an example, the savings is applied immediately and the customer is not billed for any shipping expense. Offering promotional codes is an excellent way stores like Macys generate business as the internet is “always open”, unlike brick-and-mortar stores.

Things to do in Arizona

imageWhen you are in Arizona, there are a dozen things you need to try, see and there are even a lot of specialty foods you need to eat. Especially when you visit Arizona in the summer! This year, you can try and take them to Arizona’s Red Rock Country in Sedona — recently named one of the top five destinations in the U.S. by TripAdvisor.

For outdoorsy families, you can try biking and hiking. The Grand Canyon is also just a few hours away. You can catch the Grand Canyon Railway.  The train takes out from Williams to the Grand Canyon and back.  The trip itself is filled with great scenery. Finally you need to try the Sedona hot air balloon rides offered by Sky High Balloons! The Sedona balloon ride they offer is one of a kind, with the "Splash ‘n Dash" where the balloon descends momentarily on water for a gentle ride. This fantastic flight also offers low contour flying for spotting native wildlife and an ascent for just a hint of high altitude enjoyment.

Just remember the Sedona hot air balloon ride offered by Sky High Balloons fly the "T-Baskets", the best, and safest gondolas on the market! You are in good hands with their commercially licensed pilots authorized by the Federal Aviation Administration!

Four.

Down four pounds. Not that much but I will take anything I can get.

  • I need to drink a lot of water again. Juices take in so many empty calories.
  • If I cannot exercise (I do 45 mins of elliptical training daily) I need to slow down eating at night. I do so well during the mornings but at night cravings start. I cannot have an empty pantry with two schooling kids. Helloooo cookies!
  • Portion control.
  • Healthier food choices.

Let’s aim for another four until the end of the month. I can do this!
