a Veneto Pizzeria Ristorante

It was my first time to eat at this restaurant. I was surprised at the prices at first, but I soon find out each order is actually good for two people already. The place is very toned-down, lots of red mosaic tiles – I loved their pasta the most. I mostly ordered what the waiter recommended though.

Here is what we ordered:

Pizza: New England’s Best
Pasta: Shrimp and Seafood Pasta
Appetizer: Chicken Salad

Amy Navy Burger+Burrito

We decided to try this one out after my sisters raved about it. My dad told us not to forget to try their burger. Here is what we ordered:

Bully Roy Burger
Double Burger
Freedom Fries
Steak Burritos
Chicken Quesadilla
Mango Shake
Freshly Brewed Iced Tea

If you are a fan of Mexican food and love meat – Army Navy is for you. Bully Roy Burger is HUGE and is all meat, my husband enjoyed it so much. I loved my burrito. My only comment was everything was so oily, we might even need acne treatment for all the zits that might appear if we eat there everyday. But what would you expect with Mexican beefy patties?

Eat-Out Week Recap

I don’t have much time to post the new places we were able to try the past few weeks. I have been looking for a great scanning software to recommend to my mom who needs one at her office. Here are the places we ate though – I promise to blog more about them before the week is over. Hopefully, I can add another eating place too, as we haven’t gone out this week yet!

There’Â’s More to Food than Eating

You might run across a blog that at first looks like it’s just another recipe posting or restaurant review site. A closer look, however, will reveal that it’s more than that. It also deals with food preparation and presentation, as well as fine dining and other food-related topics.

For example, you may be able to read about such customs as eating lechon. For those of you unfamiliar with the term, lechon is a roasted or deep-fried suckling pig. This dish is very popular in the Philippines, as well as other countries such as Spain, Cuba, Puerto Rico, and other countries that have a strong Spanish influence or ethnic base. Perhaps foodily.com has a recipe for lechon?

When roasted, the suckling pig is left whole and wrapped in special paper. Upon completion of cooking, the paper is peeled away, and the suckling pig, still retaining his original shape and features, including eyes, nose, mouth, and maybe even little piggy tail, is placed on the table. Sometimes, an apple is placed into its mouth before cooking for a decorative touch and added flavor.

It may be a little unnerving at first to see a whole suckling pig lying on the table, ready to be eaten, but this is part of what makes dining fun. This dish is often served in fine dining establishments in the countries where it is most popular, and its presentation is a very large part of the dining experience.

This is part of the excitement of visiting other places, and they don’t necessarily have to be in foreign countries. Some ethnic restaurants in the United States, especially in neighborhoods where many people of the same ethnic origin live, still practice specific food presentation that reflect their culture or even family traditions.

Pig Out Day – Shakey’s

Light at the end of the tunnel.

You can call it partial light. After being somewhat relieved, we ate out to celebrate. But not so much as we would have to celebrate when every minute detail of our very big stressful problem is resolved :) So it was just our favorite – pizza and pasta for lunch! All these carbs in just a day – I need to get those pills from www.slimmingwraps.net!

Yes, three pizzas! My kids are great pizza lovers!

Pig Out Day – Gilligan’s

I wasn’t really good with following my diet this week as we went out to eat two days out of the 5 weekdays. It wasn’t really a good day for me and my stress levels were deliriously high so the husband forced me to take a break and treated me out. Just what I needed. Of course, I think I would need to take colon cleansers to clean out all the fat I ate!

We ate at Gilligan’s as we wanted some Pinoy food and all the other restaurants in the area were offering Italian, Japanese and American dishes.

McDonald’s – Stress Buster

I had to treat my daughter out after she behaved so well when we were running errands (bank, grocery) the other day, never complaining. She just waited when I told her we will go to McDonald’s after we are done at the bank. She played at the playground and almost finished her fries and Coke. As for me, the McChicken Sandwich was enough.
