Picnic Essentials

Due to the lovely weather, my family is planning to have a picnic this weekend and right now I am thinking of the materials for packing I’d need – utensils, plates, baskets and cups. It seems the list is endless! I am however very excited for it – let’s pray for sunshine and windy weather! My kids want to run around and play.

Steak and Wine

I am craving for some real meat and I am just holding onto the vouchers I got again from Zucchini’s! We are going to be dining there for our wedding anniversary – happening in two weeks! And this time I think we are going to try one of their famous wine bottles. We are celebrating seven years of marriage – many more to go but what a milestone!

Current EAT Faves

While I mull over the cost-effective pros and cons of getting industrial supply in wholesale instead of retail, I am salivating thinking of my current favorite food – which are the following:

1. Wendy’s baked potato bacon and cheese
2. Wendy’s ice tea
3. Shakey’s pizza Bianca
4. Zucchini’s steak
5. Red Ribbon banana crunch loaf

I am seriously in the midst of a terrible PMS I think. The cravings are making me insane!

The Master Plan

So what’s the master plan?

It’s the end of the month and June starts in two days. I plan to finally push through and be done with my fitness regimen by December and I only have six months left with more than a hundred pounds to lose!

I would not need montecristo cigars to celebrate my weight loss success but I would definitely be splurging on a new wardrobe!

Here’s what I intend to do:
Week 1: No colored or carbonated drinks. Triple on water intake. Exercise 30minutes everyday.
Week 2: Portion control. Triple on water intake. Exercise 45 minutes everyday.
Week 3: Give up rice and white carbs. Triple on water intake. Exercise 1hour everyday.

Do you see the trend?
Will report what happens in three weeks!

Going Back Into the Wagon

I was into the great fitness wagon two months ago but fell back when I had a medical problem. I am now very ready to jump back in. It’s going to be rainy season soon where I live and the thought of not fitting into Suspender tights is making me depressed.

So what is the masterplan?

1. Go on detox for three days. I was very successful in detoxifying myself – it made it easier for me to…
2. Give up white rice, soda, caffeine and sweets.
3. Go on 30 minutes of Dance Central 2 every day, increasing to 1hr, then doing the 30-min Shred.
4. The goal is to be able to do Biggest Loser challenges by Week3.
5. Practice portion control and calorie counting.

I consider this my biggest project for the year and since it’s going to be June in six days – I only have six months to be able to meet a goal I want to accomplish for 2012.

Wish me luck, I really need it!

French Cafe

A friend who recently went on a European trip fell in love with the provinces of France and became quite obsessed with French furniture. She tells me that there is nothing quite like it, it has elegance but a homey feel to it. She was building her home then and without a doubt, her home is very shabby French chic.

She has a lot of furniture acquired and instead of selling it, she plans to put it in her soon to be opened cafe, French-inspired too, of course. The paintings and little knick-knacks she had acquired would be a perfect fit too.

Restaurant: Steak Town by The Lake

I really regret not having enough duracell procell d batteries when we went to Steak Town, a new restaurant in Tagaytay. I love the vintage photos hanging in the wall featuring the various restaurants built ages ago. And I love their menu the best – for a very reasonable price, you get mouth-watering delicious steak, unlimited salad, dessert, drinks and coffee.

I ordered the tenderloin steak and loved it:

Jasmine Rice is a variety of rice from Thailand that has long grain and it is known for its strong fragrant and taste. It has a sticky texture which makes it ideal when cooking and preparing Thai food.

So how do you cook jasmine rice? It is very easy to cook Jasmine rice. Although it is a sticky rice, cooking it is just like preparing other varieties of rice like the most common white rice or brown rice. To start cooking Thai Jasmine rice, you just need to take the serving size that you want per person and clean it using cold water. After washing the rice several times and the water used to wash the rice is clear already, pour enough cold water to the pot. The water should cover the rice and that there is a thumbs width of water above the rice. Let the water boil and then simmer for about 20 minutes. Open the lid of the pot and let it sit for another 10 minutes with the heat turned off to totally cook the rice.
If you don’t have the time to cook your own Thai Jasmine rice, you can also opt to purchase those microwaveable Thai Jasmine rice that cooks in just 90 seconds. There are even some that comes in boil-in-a bag packaging that has been pre-measured and just needs to be submerged in boiling water and will be instantly cooked in just 10-12 minutes. This lessens the clean up and preparation time so you can still get to enjoy your favorite Thai meals even if you have a very busy schedule.
So if you want a taste of Asia, try out Thai Jasmine rice now when preparing your next Asian dish.
