Accountant and Baker Entrepreneur

A friend of mine is an avid baker. It started out as an innocent hobby. She has a sweet tooth and wanted to know how to make the sweet treats she always wanted to eat. So she took a baking class and from there baked on her free time as she was an accountant in a finance firm at that time. Since she would always bake in large amounts, she started giving excess sweet treats to friends and relatives and would give them as gifts from time. Her friends loved it and started recommending her to friends and encouraged her to make it into a business. She didn’t need any advertising as her network was enough to give her many orders. Word of mouth and her free samples were enough. Soon enough she was swamped and baking in her spare time just wouldn’t do.

Now she bakes five days a week and now just has a private practice as an accountant and works with Accounting Principals finance recruiting as a consultant. It is still her first love (she is extremely good at math!) and she doesn’t have any plans in retiring or putting a stop to her practice. She said that accounting is an integral part in any industry. It translates numbers and shows how businesses are doing and what areas need to be focused on, revamped or even scraped. You can be a public accountant, CPA, or even become like her, private industry accountants. Accounting can include a regular day at the office or it can be traveling to different companies to audit or even seven-day work weeks.

French Baker

French Baker brings back so many nice childhood memories. Whenever there were reasons to celebrate, my parents would take us to French Baker and I’d always have lasagna. I saw the restaurant when I went out by myself a week ago and had to try if they taste the same. Unfortunately, it doesn’t. Their lasagna is not that cheesy and yummy as they used to be, or perhaps my memory of their food was just perfect. You can even say I was addicted to it. It’s a good thing that I didn’t need to go to a malibu rehab treatment center!

RockStar-Themed Party Cupcakes

My niece got baptized a few weeks ago and she had a rockstar-themed party celebration. I love her table centerpieces (rock guitar pink sunglasses) and her pink cupcakes – it tasted delicious too. It makes me excited to attend my friends’ kids birthday parties in a few weeks. My kids have a more active social life than their parents! (We don’t mind of course :)). One celebrant even got a pc tablet for her 7th birthday!

Frozen Margarita

We celebrated my father-in-law’s birthday last weekend and we talked and caught up with our relatives that night, talking about reward cards, health, our kids’ education and showbiz gossip over beer and cocktails.

What circumstances constitute an emergency for you?

The husband and I try to categorize our spending, like paying for cash for everything else and only using the credit card for emergencies. What would emergencies mean for us? These would be hospitalizations, unexpected school expenses and death.
