Wigs And Hairpieces

Where can you see the most number of wigs and hairpieces‘ apart from the place where they make them? There’s Hollywood, gay bar and hair salons. It’s generally in the entertainment industry though it’s definitely not limited to that.

Did you know that in the ancient times, wig is used by the Egyptians to shield their heads from the sun? In the 16th and 17th century, though, it has been worn to make one look good. Nits and head lice were feared also to easily get to one’s hair so people shove their heads and wear wigs instead which can be cleaned just by removing it and artificially de-loused. Men wore them powdered white to distinguish themselves (have you seen the film Amadeus, where most of the men were in white wig?). Women wore them, rather, to cover their baldness out of shame.

Today, it is more often seen worn by gays who are cross dressers. They either really cross dress for the life they have or they do it for the show as their livelihood.

Not all wig makers are good, though. If it’s meant to be a wig and it looks like a wig and used as a wig like having them in different colors like that of clown, then it’s ok to have it look like a wig. If you are having a wig for the purpose of enhancing your appearance, you don’t usually want anyone else know that you are actually wearing one so if it’s badly made, that gives away the purpose. They can go for some black hair extensions if they wanted a long black set. (Check for rremy hair extentsons!) Some wigs are meant as “toys” for children to play with. You know girls, they love to play dress up and fashion up.

A small percentage wear a wig because they have gone through a serious health condition that they had to be bald. They are the ones who need good wigs and save them from insults some are very good in throwing.
