There are a variety of above ground pools available in the market today, but the most popular above ground pool has a steel sided, vinyl liner. These above ground pools come in many different shapes and sizes. The deepest pool is only about 4-1/2 feet deep though. Nicer above ground pools come with a deck around the top or a removable ladder for safety purposes.
When it comes to installing an above the ground pool with steel sides, you can install it on your own, or hire someone to do it for you. The hardest and most time-consuming part of the installation is excavation, because the ground on which the pool sits must be perfectly level. If you decide to hire an above ground pool installer, he/she will charge between $300 to $700, depending on the size of the pool. As a result, self-installation may be your best option. Since the above ground pool is rather large, you’ll need to get some help from a few others.
The following steps describe in general how to install a steel-sided, above ground pool in your yard:
1. Place the vinyl liner inside the steel sides and secure it with an aluminum top guard.
2. Hook up the filter system to the above ground pool by placing a hole in the wall and running a skimmer box through it.
The water flows to the filter from the skimmer, and a basket inside the skimmer catches leaves and other debris. Another hole is located under the skimmer box that allows the water to run back in the pool after it is cleaned by the filer.
It’s a good idea to purchase sand filters because they’re the most common ones used for above ground pools. You should also purchase a pool chemical kit to keep it free from bacteria and algae.
